Dragon Ball Super: Broly Movie

July 20, 2018

These are exciting times for Dragon Ball fans.  Although Dragon Ball Super went on an indefinite hiatus back in March, Toei Animation promised viewers a continuation of the series with a brand new movie set to release on December 14 in Japan.  The initial plot summary of the film revealed that it would take place after the events of the Tournament of Power (Universe Survival Arc) and would feature a story that would flesh out the origin of the Saiyan race.

It was recently announced that this origin story would come to light through a re-introduction of the character, Broly; whom until now had only been featured in Dragon Ball Z movies.  Because Dragon Ball series creator, Akira Toriyama, didn’t play much of a role in the story development of the former Broly, he’s using this film to put his own spin on the character with a new design and background story which means everything we know about Broly can be tossed out the window.  I’m very excited to see what he does with the story and how he places Broly in the mainstream storyline of the Dragon Ball universe.  If the trailer is any indication, we’re in for an incredible ride. 😁

Below is the original Japanese trailer, but if you want to see the newly released English dubbed version, click here!  The movie will be released in America in January 2019 courtesy of Funimation.
