The Vampire Diaries is stirring the pot a little bit with our beloved characters. I honestly didn’t think Alaric would go through with stripping Elena’s love for Damon away, but he did and she appears to be better. What that means for her future, only time will tell. I didn’t want Alaric to do it, but as I sat and thought about it, I think he did the fatherly thing for her. Any parent would take away their kid’s pain no matter what the cost is right? Alaric was no different in this situation. What I found to be even more interesting though is that Elena had to face the fact that she fell for Damon WHILE she was still with Stefan. Although I’m sure a lot of people had already made that assumption just from watching the show, it was very telling to see Elena deal with that. Elena is an individual who can be prideful about always trying to do the right thing by other people, but for the first time this was something that someone could point a finger and say, “Elena, YOU messed up”. I think this was very realistic. No one is perfect and I appreciated that this was represented.
In other news, Damon and Bonnie are stuck in the past, May 10, 1994 to be exact. All we know for sure is that there was a solar eclipse on this day. What’s going on with them is extremely intriguing to me. I’m honestly ok with their story stretching out a bit because I cannot get enough of Bonnie and Damon being trapped together. They obviously care for each other, but to see them mask it with bundles of bickering conversations is entertaining to watch. I think this experience is going to bring them closer than ever and the fact that there’s unpredictable mysteries hidden around them is even better! Apparently they are not alone and from the looks of it, maybe it’s a ghost? I mean they are still technically on the other side right? Maybe not.
Side note: I read that every episode name this season will be from a 1994 song title.
Anyways back to present day. Enzo is back and I could not be more annoyed. Boy needs to die as soon as possible. I didn’t care for him last season, and I most definitely do not care for him this season. He’s already making mistakes, you know, killing Ivy and all. And I’m a bit disappointed in Caroline as well. Stefan is obviously not in his right mind about his life choices, but he’s given up. I think his actions are quite normal given his situation, but Caroline, the girl who spent the last five years going from the self-centered cheerleader to a strong independent vampire who learned compassion and a deep sense of caring for others, what happened to her? I feel like she’s being uber selfish these days and not very understanding at all. She has every right to feel hurt and all, but goodness, she’s going around making people feel worse about how they’re dealing with the Bonnie/Damon situation and it’s all kinds of negative. I need to see her pick up her emotions a bit and get focused. Start by killing Enzo. (LOL I know that’s not going to happen…unfortunately). But hey, there’s someone who’s got your back Caroline!
