What a tragedy…or is it? Much like this season, Elena and Damon are about to get a much needed refreshment in their relationship. This will be their second chance at true love. As horrible as it is to have us stuck with an Elena who is lacking in the memory department, it’ll also be incredibly enjoyable to see her fall in love with Damon all over again, and this time against one a huge obstacle, herself. With her memories gone for good (possibly), Elena will have to fight tooth and nail to keep herself from wanting to hate Damon forever, but it seems as if it won’t be as much of a challenge as it originally seemed since by the end of the episode she seemed almost desperate to get her memories back.
As for other relationships, Jeremy seems completely torn at this point. There’s been clear signs that he’s not adjusting well to life without Bonnie, but with Damon returning home, it’s understandable that he would have a complete meltdown. I need to see Bonnie again, for my own sake. I’m still not over her sacrificing her chance at freedom for the sake of Damon. He just better earn his keep.
As for Caroline and Stefan, it seems as if Stefan is returning to normal now that his brother has returned. He wants Caroline to accept him, but she ain’t having none of that.
As you guys know, I was very much for Caroline and Stefan getting together. It’s clear though that this will be an entire season long process before they ever make that happen. I don’t blame Caroline at all for how she’s acting towards Stefan. Stefan was a huge jerk to her and everyone else back at home. What boggles my mind is that he still hasn’t made any comments about the obvious fact that she’s been liking him. He’s still throwing the word “friend” all over the place and that’s a double slap to all the other slaps he’s already dealt her. It sucks though, cause Stefan was such a nice guy and here he is, just messing it all up. #clueless
The last thing I want to mention is Jo. I’m really liking what’s going on with her. She’s apparently a witch, but has yet to show any of her powers besides being immune to compulsion. Now, with Alaric being human again I’m really excited to see how their relationship unfolds. It sucks that Alaric has lost his powers. I think he’ll still be able to play the fatherly protective role, but he just won’t be as good at is because he’s basically now powerless compared to practically everyone else in the show. At least he can cross the border though 😀
